Everything you need to know about hiring equipment from Terra Hire.

What areas do you deliver to?

We deliver across North Canterbury, including Amberley, Rangiora, Oxford, Kaikōura, Hanmer Springs, Hurunui, Waikari, Hawarden, Waipara, Cheviot, and the surrounding rural areas. Free delivery is included within the Hawarden–Waikari area for the flail mower. Contact us if you're unsure about your location.

How do I book equipment?

You can book directly on each product page using the online booking widget. Select your dates, confirm, and we'll be in touch to arrange delivery. Alternatively, call or email us and we'll sort it out over the phone.

How far in advance do I need to book?

We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred dates, especially during busy periods (spring and summer). That said, we do our best to accommodate short-notice bookings — call us and we'll see what we can do.

Do I need a trailer or special vehicle to get the equipment?

No. We deliver the equipment directly to your site. You don't need a trailer, tow vehicle, or any special setup. Just tell us your address and we'll take care of it.

Do I need a licence or special training to operate the digger?

In New Zealand, no specific licence is required to operate a small excavator like the Kubota U27-4 on private land. However, you must be competent to operate it safely. If it's your first time, we're happy to give you a quick rundown when we deliver. For commercial/workplace use, Health & Safety obligations apply.

What if something breaks down?

Give us a call immediately. We'll do our best to resolve the issue quickly, whether that means troubleshooting over the phone or getting out to your site. Our equipment is well-maintained to minimise breakdowns.

How is pricing structured?

We offer daily and weekly hire rates. Prices vary depending on the equipment and hire duration. Contact us for a quote — we'll give you an honest, no-fuss price.

What's the minimum hire period?

Our minimum hire period is one day. Weekly rates are available for longer jobs and work out to better value.

Can I hire for weekends?

Yes, weekend hire is available. We're open Saturday mornings for drop-offs and pickups. Contact us to arrange.

Is the equipment insured?

The equipment is covered under our own insurance while being transported. Once delivered to your site, you are responsible for the equipment. We recommend checking your home or business insurance covers hired equipment. Ask us if you'd like more detail.

What fuel does the equipment use?

Both the Kubota digger and the Kubota tractor run on diesel. We deliver equipment with a full tank — please return it with a full tank, or a refuelling charge will apply.

Can I extend my hire period?

Yes, subject to availability. Call us as early as possible if you need more time and we'll do our best to accommodate.
